Very much reminded me of small human children trying to make sense of the big, noisy and scary world above them. For such a young deer, he is very brave taking on two much larger bucks, and I look forward to seeing him mature and gain experience. There is plenty more, if you look. I've got very stuck in my ways and always head to the Arlington Bluebell Walk and Abbots Wood (respectfully, of course). ...Thank you so much Mark. Lovely to hear from you!

I began missing the meadow not long after coming home. I have some holiday booked for early July, so I will be returning. Early in the week is best, as people stay away.

I could achieve so much more if I lived nearby. I once camped in a neighbouring field and saw the meadow at dawn. It looked quite alien in the mist and dew, as I'm used to seeing the evening sun shape the landscape.

I began my fascination with roe in 2003, after encountering a doe just outside Brighton. Her paradoxical mixture of fear and curiosity marked out this species as unusual. The way she ran off and came back even closer planted the idea, that they were capable of tolerating human company in the right circumstances.Alan MacKenziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16667377534438807166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6856551099141296693.post-50386236886117899312021-06-28T18:21:35.828+01:002021-06-28T18:21:35.828+01:00Hi Alan, Really enjoyed this blog update. The buck in my essay spent 25 minutes very close by and he could see me at all times. I never hide myself. If there's food available and the roe is territorial, one could spend all evening with them, if it wasn't for disruptive walkers.Alan MacKenziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16667377534438807166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6856551099141296693.post-80794048314653944022021-06-19T13:21:34.598+01:002021-06-19T13:21:34.598+01:00Lovely images Alan. Most photographers post single images to social media, receive a flurry of likes and get swiftly forgotten. Viewers are just gobbling through images, like popcorn. I like to provide a narrative, with context. See my photo essays on Roe deer. Anyone with an interest in my subjects can come away with a greater understanding of their lives and how I photographed them.

Brighton has changed quite a lot, with new buildings, a brand new park and a tall viewing platform called the i360. If you ever return, there are some wonderful places in Sussex - the High Weald Rocks, Friston Forest and the Knepp Rewilding Project.

All the best.

Alan.Alan MacKenziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16667377534438807166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6856551099141296693.post-83047517312161062162021-02-26T17:30:39.219+00:002021-02-26T17:30:39.219+00:00Hello Alan,
